Before buying the F-PRO I sent some emails to Fightbox with questions regarding custom buttons and they replied very fast and were very helpful answering my questions and even offered to build the controller with the after market buttons installed for me. The controller works great with no issues and feels very premium. I would definitely recommend Fightbox for a more premium leverless controller.
Update 2: FightBoxArcade managed to send me a unit that was already stateside. It took 40 days from time of sale to receipt of box, but to be fair to them, I didn't contact them until we were about 30 days in. So from one point of view, they resolved a shipping issue in about 10 days - not bad. From another point of view, they don't seem to track orders once they are in the shipping process - customers have to be their own advocates. Eh, now I know better.
As far as the box and the buttons go, this is my first controller/keypad with arcade button inputs, so I don't know what to expect. Seems good to me. The buttons are more sensitive with less travel distance than I expected. I keep hitting them like mechanical keyboard switches, but I think a lighter touch will work better. No need to bottom out these keys.
Configuring the keys via the website is confusing, but it's probably as straightforward as possible. At some point as a user, you have to confront
23 buttons, each with a pin-mapping, and each with a customizable output value. Just hold the 'Start' button while plugging in the box, then go to 192.168.7.1 in the browser, make changes, save, click reboot - boom, good to go.
It would be nice if it came with a schematic showing the button names (as used in the configuration tool), or with a schematic showing the pin mapping.
All in all, after the shipping issues got worked out, I have a brand new controller I'm very excited to start gaming with. GLHF out there!
Update 1: It's been a month, and I haven't heard anything from FightBoxArcade regarding the status of my order. It still hasn't shipped. I've emailed them, but will proceed to order cancellation if I don't hear back from them.
Original Review: Day 14 of a shipping label existing, but USPS still awaiting the item. I'll update if the fightbox is ever actually sent to me.
Ordered right-handed version, with custom art and different button colours, and everything was to my liking.
Excellent product! Weighty, solid-feeling, good buttons, fantastic button layout, easy configuration, good price. Overall very happy with it!
I just wish it was a bit longer horizontally for lap play outside of that it a solid piece of equipment and you can still play in your be lap if you order non slip padding for the bottom
